Friends of George: clever humans we love and admire, who love storytelling as much as we do.
Who: Sangeeta Kocharekar, Lifestyle Editor, POPSUGAR
What: “Lifestyle Editor across POPSUGAR Australia, which is aimed at Gen Z, and where I cover fashion, beauty, home, interior trends, sex, relationships and lifestyle; and The Latch, geared to millennials with the lifestyle vertical covering travel, design/architecture, career, home, tech, travel and money.”
Why: “I love the team I work with (and monologue about it to anyone who doesn’t ask). I love the content we’re producing [and] the brand moments we’re putting together (like POPSUGAR Unstoppable, which features essays from inspiring young women).”
Favourite social platform: “I’m getting into TikTok – I definitely have an appreciation for how Gen Z films their thoughts on the fly, it’s like Twitter in video form – but Instagram is still my favourite. I’m a Millennial.”
Secret Content Vice: “I love the Daily Mail for celebrity photos. And any autobiography – particularly with media personalities. It’s like getting to chat with them, solo.”
Creator obsession: “The Daily Aus podcast, just to know what people are talking about and to stay informed. I love that [cofounders] Sam and Zara said they were originally just committing to doing the podcast for a year and seeing what happens; I really like that idea. Also, TikTok creator Georgina Downes, who did something similar recently – she decided to film herself putting on outfits for 30 days and just see what happened with her audience. I find that commitment to experimentation really inspirational.”
